McLaren brought several updates to the Hungarian Grand Prix, and they worked well right from the start. Lando Norris put his McLaren on pole position and went on to win an entertaining race – his first victory as the reigning World Champion. Max Verstappen complained about his car throughout the entire weekend but still managed to finish an impressive second, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli got the maximum out of his Mercedes with third place. Both Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton showed good pace, while Isack Hadjar in the Red Bull, like Verstappen, struggled with the car throughout the weekend. George Russell was pushed to the back of the field at the start, while Oscar Piastri, who had led the race for quite some time, collided with Carlos Sainz and later retired with a gearbox failure. Once again, both Racing Bulls drivers finished in the points, while Nico Hülkenberg scored his first points for Audi. Now Formula 1 heads into a well-deserved summer break before the season continues in Zandvoort and Monza. The cancelled Bahrain Grand Prix will now be held from 2–4 October in Sepang, Malaysia.
