Kimi Antonelli Dominates in Spa - Francorchamps

20/07/26
Kimi Antonelli dominated the Belgian Grand Prix weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. The Formula 1 World Championship leader secured a commanding pole position before capping off a flawless weekend with a convincing victory on Sunday. The young Italian controlled the race from start to finish, leaving his rivals with little chance and extending his lead in the Drivers’ Championship. The biggest disappointment of the weekend was his Mercedes teammate, George Russell. The Briton struggled throughout practice to match Antonelli’s pace and saw his race come to an early end after colliding with Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap. With the Ardennes unexpectedly spared the rain that so often shapes the Belgian Grand Prix, the race lacked much of the usual drama. Charles Leclerc confirmed Ferrari’s strong form by finishing second, while Max Verstappen once again extracted the maximum from his Red Bull to claim third place. Despite receiving two penalties, Lewis Hamilton recovered to finish fourth. He was followed by Oscar Piastri, Isack Hadjar—who produced an outstanding drive from last on the grid—Lando Norris, Gabriel Bortoleto in the Audi, Arvid Lindblad and Franco Colapinto, who completed the points-paying positions. Formula 1 now heads to the Hungaroring for next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, the final race before the traditional summer break.
