George Russell Triumphs in Spielberg as 320,000 Fans Enjoy a Spectacular Austrian Grand Prix Weekend George Russell claimed victory in a thrilling Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, crossing the finish line ahead of a resurgent Max Verstappen and his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli. In doing so, Russell secured his second win of the season and closed the gap in the World Championship standings. A record crowd of 320,000 spectators endured scorching temperatures to witness one of the finest Formula 1 weekends in recent years. The fans were rewarded with exciting wheel-to-wheel battles, strategic racing and outstanding performances throughout the field. Behind the leading trio, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, Isack Hadjar, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc completed the next positions. Racing Bulls celebrated an excellent result with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad rounding out the top ten. The historic support programme was equally impressive. Mathias Lauda drove the Ferrari in which his father, Niki Lauda, became World Champion. Pierre Luigi Martini and Paolo Barilla thrilled the crowd in two iconic six-wheeled Tyrrell P34s, while Christian Danner took to the track in a Brabham BMW. Rubens Barrichello delighted fans behind the wheel of a 2004 Ferrari, and David Coulthard pushed the Red Bull with which Sebastian Vettel won his first Formula 1 World Championship to its limits. Karl Wendlinger and Johnny Herbert completed the spectacular demonstration runs in two legendary John Player Lotus cars. Ticket sales for the 2027 Austrian Grand Prix are already underway, and demand has been exceptional. Fans eager to experience another unforgettable weekend at the Red Bull Ring are encouraged to secure their tickets soon—they are selling like hot cakes.
