Lando Norris takes giant step forward to drivers worldchampionship

10/11/25
Lando Norris took a huge leap toward the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship with a commanding victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Briton mastered the legendary Interlagos circuit to claim a confident win, capitalizing on the misfortune of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri and a disastrous qualifying session for title rival Max Verstappen. With just three races remaining, Norris now looks almost unstoppable in his quest for a maiden world title. Already in Saturday’s sprint race, it became clear that this weekend could prove decisive in the championship fight. While Piastri spun out and retired early, Norris cruised to an unchallenged victory, collecting valuable extra points in the process. On Sunday, the McLaren driver controlled the race from start to finish. With a flawless performance and impressive tire management, Norris secured victory in Interlagos—and with it, another crucial 25 points toward the title. Piastri, on the other hand, endured a weekend to forget. After receiving a time penalty for a collision with Antonelli, the Australian slipped back to fifth place, widening the gap to his teammate in the standings. Max Verstappen had to start from the pit lane after a disastrous qualifying session but once again demonstrated why he remains one of the sport’s greats. The three-time world champion stormed through the field with aggressive overtakes and salvaged a podium finish—third place behind Norris and Kimi Antonelli. The young Italian in the Mercedes delivered a superb drive, celebrating the best result of his Formula 1 career so far with a stunning second place. His teammate George Russell also impressed in fourth, earning Mercedes valuable points in the Constructors’ Championship. Behind the front-runners, several rising stars turned heads. Olli Bearman claimed another strong result in sixth, followed by Liam Lawson, Isack Hadjar, Nico Hülkenberg, and Pierre Gasly—all finishing inside the points. With 390 points, Lando Norris now leads the championship comfortably ahead of Oscar Piastri (366) and Max Verstappen (341), with just three rounds to go.
