Lando Norris wins in Mexico City and leads the driver´s worldchampiuonship

26/10/25
The weekend in Mexico City belonged entirely to Lando Norris. The McLaren driver dominated qualifying, got off to a perfect start, and stayed clear of the chaos behind him to take a commanding and uncontested victory. With that, he also took over the lead in the Drivers’ World Championship. Things didn’t go as smoothly for Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing. After finishing only fifth in practice and suffering several off-track excursions, the Dutchman salvaged third place through a smart pit strategy. The Ferraris showed surprising pace: Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton qualified second and third. Leclerc drove a composed and clever race to finish P2, securing his seventh podium of the season, while Hamilton once again made costly mistakes and ended up only eighth. The man of the race was undoubtedly Olli Bearman, who sensationally brought his Haas home in fourth place. Just behind him came Oscar Piastri, whose fifth-place finish meant he lost the championship lead to his teammate Norris — by just one single point. Antonelli and Russell finished sixth and seventh for Mercedes, while Ocon in the second Haas and Bortoleto in the Sauber picked up the final championship points. The next round of the championship takes place in São Paulo, as Formula 1 heads to Brazil in two weeks’ time — where McLaren and Norris will look to defend their newly gained lead in the standings.
