Lando Norris - the new king of Monaco

26/05/25

Despite numerous efforts to make the Monaco Grand Prix more exciting – including the introduction of a mandatory second pit stop – the race, as in previous years, was effectively decided on Saturday during qualifying.

Lando Norris delivered a sensational lap to put his McLaren on pole position, beating the previously dominant hometown hero Charles Leclerc. In the race, just like in practice, championship leader Oscar Piastri secured third place, followed by Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

Positions 6 to 10 featured some surprise performers, with Hadjar, Ocon, and Lawson impressing, while seasoned drivers Albon and Sainz masterfully held back faster rivals with strategic driving.

The bottom line: Monaco remains, as always, a highlight in terms of glamour and prestige – a spectacular weekend off the track. On the track, though, excitement remains limited. Perhaps only significantly smaller cars would truly bring more action to the tight street circuit.

Still, one thing is certain: Everyone is already looking forward to Monaco 2026!
