History

The Spanish Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya which is located 20 km north east of Barcelona. The village close to the racetrack is called Montmeló.

The circuit, which was amended several times over the years, is today 4,655 km long. Typically for the circuit are on the one hand the drawn-out corners which strain out the tyres and favour cars with the best aerodynamics, and on the other hand the long start/finish straight.

Because of the lack of overtaking possibilities it is important to secure a good starting position in qualifying.

Currency: Euro

Winner 2016: Max Verstappen (his first victory and first win by a dutchman)
