The circuit was developed in 1996 in Melbourne's beautiful Albert Park, part of it using closed-off public roads, and situated between artificial lakes and cricket fields.

The track combines fast straights and very demanding slow-speed turns, offering numerous overtaking opportunities for drivers and thrilling action for passionate fans.
